RE: FOP and Metro Government at odds over take home police cars
Anyone against another officer being paid some extra cash by the state is a moron. All of the officers should be standing against the current crop of police-hater politicians in this state cutting everyone's pay and retirement benefits. What more can you expect from a bunch of liberal Democreep lawyer-polticians.

I can't speak to why THEY are objecting, but I can tell you why they should. The fund was NEVER intended to be for state officers. You have to look back to when the fund was created - and yeah, I'm old enough to remember. It was the carrot for agencies to get their LOCAL officers trained. The state doesn't need that carrot - they can simply decide to make their officers get trained (and some still don't have to by statute). (And I'll note, what about all the OTHER state officers, like Parks?)
And, bottom line, the fund can't afford it - it's been raped over the years by the state - it's not flush with funds. (In fact, I've heard that it is pretty much broke right now, barely keeping ahead of payouts as it is.) Are you willing to take less, as much as half, so that these other officers can be added? That's the problem, if you add all these other officers, the fund will like go belly-up, are you alright with that?
