The FOP should be burning up the news media lines with this information - why is it being silent? How about a website specifically for the public - something to refute every claim made by the mayor and his minions? Such as, he says we have X number of officers, the next morning, the website says, no, we have X - officers, and this is why OUR information is correct. Every day, every beat officer should make a note of how many officers are working on their respective shifts, for example - today, we have 6 people and a sergeant, and 1 spent the entire shift on hospital duty, so we really only had 5. (And come one, people, can't we find a different way to guard prisoners in the hospital, what a frigging waste of time.) The general public truly has no idea how many officers are on duty.

And ever thought - the take home car program helps hide the low number of officers, because the public sees the off-duty cars on the road.
