Actually, I'd call Triple A if my car broke down - and if I was in a crash, I'd assume on duty officers would respond? If officers lived all over the county, the logic might hold, but that isn't the case. I've been through subdivisions where it seems like every other house has a marked car. That's the perogative of the officer and their family, of course, but that certainly doesn't help those who live in the poorer (and I'll note, probably more crime-ridden) areas that COULD benefit by the presence
