Please, please, you guys LISTEN to this one. They are absolutely correct. Don't ever, ever cancel another car, follow your policies to the letter. As long as the work is getting done, they have zero incentive to do what is necessary to hire officers. No more I'll advise, everyone PROMISE. Keep an ear on when someone really needs help, and don't go to 2-man runs alone, stage and wait.

How many of these guys will go to another policing job? How much money has been wasted on a hiring process that will now be thrown away? How long can they go on the current list, without having to do at least part of it over again?

It is my belief that the basic premise for getting a job is to do your job. If that requires saving some time by taking a 2 man call by yourself to save the city some time and you can do it without violating officer safety I believe you should do it. You cannot concern yourself with CompStat or any other programs designed to crunch numbers. Do you Job and earn your pay. One of the major problems that I see with Louisville Police is that everyone wants to get paid but nobody wants to work. Be proud of your job and remember that you work for the citizens of Louisville, not just for the mayor of the chief. Make a difference with the citizens and dont worry about the guys in charge because they are in charge now, but can be gone tomorrow. The citizens will ALWAYS be here.
