Love him or hate him, Koenig acted properly and within the law. Pickerell was a bully that thought that by pulling a gun he could intimidate someone. He has probably done it before. Unortunately he came across someone that has been trained to deal with someone that uses deadly force. Guns aren't toys to be waved around to intimidate people or to show off. Police deal with threats everyday and don't have to use deadly force, but they are prepared to do so at any given moment. Sorry about your luck
