I agree totally with the outcome, but here is a line of truth, Koenig is an idiot, squirrel and hot head.

The forensic evidence and all the officers' testimony supported McKenzie Mattingly, too.  Stengel disregarded the evidence and called Mattingly and Matt Thomerson both liars.  He did that at the FOP meeting in January of 2006, in case you missed it.  Stengel also said, at that meeting, that he indicted Mattingly for murder even though he knew he would not get a conviction.  The media had a field day with his case.  They only reported about a third of the facts and had major problems even getting that small portion right.  Mattingly did not make any statement to the local media until after his criminal trial and he had settled with the city for his job.  None of that matters at all.  If you are a cop who has ever taken a case before the grand jury you should know how easy it is to get an indictment.  Historically the GJ votes along the recommendation of the commonwealth.  Exceptions to this are extremely rare.  To paraphrase former Chief Judge of New York State, Judge Sol Wachlter  you can get a ham sandwhich indicted.   Remember Stengel gloating to Mattingly at that meeting that he could indict a ham sandwhich and proclaiming to Bridget Thomerson that, "What are you going to do?  Who are you going to take your cases to?  I am the only show in town!"  You all know so little about Louisville politics how you can go from zero to hero in the blink of an eye.

Love him or hate him, Koenig acted properly and within the law. Pickerell was a bully that thought that by pulling a gun he could intimidate someone. He has probably done it before. Unortunately he came across someone that has been trained to deal with someone that uses deadly force. Guns aren't toys to be waved around to intimidate people or to show off. Police deal with threats everyday and don't have to use deadly force, but they are prepared to do so at any given moment. Sorry about your luck pickle, but you picked on the wrong guy this time. Too bad your family has to change yor diapers for the rest of your life becasue of your stupid decision.

While I agree with your sentiment, please consider investing in a spelling / grammar tutorial.
