White not chosen for Chicago post, will remain in Louisville

5 years is too long for a top administrator. He has his ideas and his alone. He has been unwilling to bend on too many issues and it is time for some fresh ideas. Obviously his "We'll reduce violent crime by 3%" policy every year hasn't worked. In fact violent crime has significantly increased under his tenure.

I too believe that it would be a travesty of justice to "reward" him for staying with an even larger salalry. The thought that there are officers out there working two an three jobs to make ends meet because the Mayor won't even provide cost of living increases is criminal. Robert White will take the most lucrative job offer preented to him. If Abramson matches these then he is only deluding himself. I don't have anything agains White personally. I have met him a few times and he can be talked too, but face it; 5 years of the same old broken record is quite enough.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah, the city gets to keep going down the toilet.

Over the past couple of weeks as word spread in the community that White was being considered in Chicago, the chief said he'd received many comments from citizens.

"I've been really touched," White said. "It really reminded me how appreciative people are about the efforts we've made in this police department."

Don't take this wrong. I am by no means a Robert White fan. I have seen him screw up a whole lot of crap and not bat an eye over it. I have seen crime rise and 5 years into merger we are not better off than before regarding fighting crime, officer vacancies and the radio system. We can't get service for radios or lights between midnight and eight am. Metrosafe has increasing control over too many POLICE related functions. They are out of control because they don't serve particular needs, they serve jerry's screwed up plan of one giant conglomerate.

White has not fought hard enough to change these things. I do agree with some of the things he has done and some of the individual officers he has saved through common sense thinking. He isn't the big enemy out there, Abramson is. Truly we need a Chief that will stand up every time for us but I don't ever see that happening again.

Like someone posted earlier. I can't blame him for looking for more money and more opportunities. I too want to know just how much Abramson is going to give him when his contract is up for renewal. It is hard to beat what he got before, but don't hate him for trying. Anyone else would want more money in his place also.

O.K. Chief White is going to stay. At least he is the devil we know. Who is to say Jerry wouldn't have brought in someone worse?

My question is: How much has Jerry sweetened the pot to keep him here? The rumor had it that he was offering to match the Chicago offer which would have given the chief around a 44% raise. White's contract ends January 5, 2008 and he gets a full pension at that point so he would be a complete idiot to not ask for a big ol" honkin' raise. Jerry is crying poor mouth right now because he couldn't raid the Library fund for the 16 million because he actually thought he could pull the wool over the taxpayers eyes once again and get the library tax passed. He had already put the current libray money in the next year's budget.

HOW MUCH OF A RAISE IS BOB WHITE GOING TO GET MR. MAYOR? YOU STILL HAVE THE POLICE WORKING WITHOUT A CONTRACT AND THE LIUTENANTS AND CAPTAINS ARE IN ARBITRATION. HOW MUCH OF A RAISE IS THE CHIEF GETTING?
