White in running for Chicago police chief

I just watched the news and OUR FOP President was just so warm and fuzzy about his relationship with the chief and stated that he really hopes that he doesn't leave.........just goes to show that the current president is out of touch with his membership.

Please Please Please give Bob the job! Maybe we will be able to police again and not only worry about tick marks.

I am not suprised White is leaving. What the community doesn't know that hsi $149,000.00 a year salary is the largest any Chief in our area ever received. He also got an unheard of contract that if he stayed 5 years he that Abramson would pay the entire amount of a 20 year pension for the rest of his life to him. Heck, I would move on also.

I also understand that Jerry offered to give him about a 45% raise to $230,000.00 a year if he stayed. Dang! The Officers got a 0%, 2% and 2% raise over the last 3 years and are currently without a contract but it is allright to throw good money after bad and give White a huge raise. INCREDIBLE!

I have never liked his arrogant my way or the highway attitude. It is not a suprise that White is leaving. He came in as a hatchet man for Jerry and accomplished his task well.

I wanna see him go as much as the next guy, but it really chaps my *** that he is being considered for a "promotion" for nothing more than being black and having the ability to be told what to do by the mayor. Call me a racist and you will be wrong. This is a simple fact.

Keeling was elected 2 years ago only because nobody ran against him. He has been weak an ineffective in confronting the Chief and the Mayor. I try and think of anything good Chief White did for our department. I come up short on the list of good things... Tasers, TRU, yeah that is about it. I think of the negatives, like firing Officers that only merited suspensions to go through the protracted legal battles and almost all of them have gotten their jobs back becasue the merit board and the courts all agree that he was wrong.

I think about the significant cuts to major ciminal units like narcotics, gang squad, street crimes and the correspondinng rise in Murders, rapes,shootings, assaults, burglaries etc.. and wonder how anyone can hype this man as Keeling has done.

I also see the signifigance in the fact that contract negotiations have gone nowhere...The Officer's and Sgt's are 4 months without a contract after 7 months of negotiations and the Captains and Lieutenants are 16 months without a contract after 19 months of negotiations.

I also see that we still don't have enough Officers on the street (about 100 short) and that people are retiring at an alarming rate.

Mr. Keeling, before you shoot of your mouth using the Royal "WE", please clarify that you only speak for yourself not for the majority of the police department. I can tell you now that I will make sure I show up on Tuesday, November 20th and cast my vote for John McGuire. I am confident that he won't choose to appease the Chief and the Mayor and will be vocal in his disgust over the way things are handled by this administration.

The next Chief will be no better than White. No matter who Abramson picks, he'll make sure it's the least competent, most politically motivated a-hole that he can find to do his bidding. He doesn't like a Chief who is more popular than he is. Those kinds of Chiefs cause problems when an Officer's career has to be sacrificed to appease self-appointed community spokesmen and they have too many opinions of their own. This police department will remain a hollow shell of what it used to be for years after Abramson leaves office. Anyone that's been around a while knows how far into the gutter this department has gone.

Where do we send the letters of recomendation? BUT then again, who knows what jerry will put in his place.

Way to go Chief! I am glad someone can get out while the getting is good. More power to you! If you think about us while you are in Chicago, remember that everything wan't so bad and that I am sure you could have done more for the officers had you not had the big headed wonder to deal with.

So where is our great President??? Two officers involved in a shooting early this morning and our kiss the chiefs a$$ President is no where to be found on the media. Turner gave the usual statement about how hard we will be investigating the officers and not how hard we will be investigating the criminal. No FOP president make a statement in support of the officers? Sure maybe he is at PIU but where is a public statement in support of the officers? Don't they PAY for someone to represent them?? All over the news is how the officers are separated and a comprehensive look into their actions will be done, why can't the FOP president be demanding on the media that a comprehensive look into the suspects actions be done? How about saying on the media that we support these officers, you think that might mean something to them and their families to have that done? You don't have to give details of the incident to give a statement of support Bill. Oh that's right, the chief and mayor might not appreciate the FOP president speaking out publicly in support of two Police Officers until they can put their politically correct spin on the incident. Good job Bill you coward!!!!

Why is it in the past 22 months I can't recall Bill Keeling standing up for the Officers as much as him standing up for the Chief at this moment? I am talking about news articles, talk shows and any other venue he could get on to tell our side of the story. I remember Dotson even called occasional press conferences! Things are horribly wrong on the department and violent crime has skyrocketed.

The Officers have been ground down under White and Keeling has been the Union President for 2 years and that is all he has to say?

White doesn't know what he would be stepping into in Chicago. They have all of the problems on LMPD magnified times 1000. I doubt if an LMPD officer could even fathom what's going on there.

There has not been ONE time that in his 22 month REIGN that President Keeling has stood up for the 1200 members of this department when it was crunch time. Keeling obviously feels that he can represent me and all of the other members by stating that "we will miss him". I will personally drive White up to Chicago. Why doesn't Keeling get on the media and let the public know what is really going on, the abuse of discipline, firing officers without total merit, oh, and don't forget about our "stats" as the department calls them, when we all know that it is a different way of getting a QUOTA!

To President Keeling, when you open your mouth in the future, I hope that it is to sing some classic Caribou songs, if not, make sure that you will be actually representing the officers of this department instead of representing yourself. RCFOP 614 belongs to over 2000 members, not one (soon to be gone) President. If this offends President Keeling, then I guess he should have a better mindset on how things are supposed to be done. He needs to get a rapport with the lodge before trying to get one with the Chief and Mayor's Office.

Oh, and he is quite right, the Chief has been an asset to the department, just not the 1200 officers that work for it.

David was a constant spokesman for Police Officers and was always on the radio,in the paper and on the news, including being in the national news on several occasions. McGuire has the personality of a bucket of sand and Priddy clearly stated at the meeting where we voted on giving Keeling a raise that he(Priddy) would run for president if it paid more just for the money. Not who I want representing me!

How about this....The JCPD FOP President never received any salary and always ended up with a much better contract. The past several presidents for the FOP have done squat and one got a job(that he was unqualified for) with the AG, one gets a political appointed job, and the other disappears (which is must have been where he spent most of his presidential career, since we never heard from him) Does anyone see a pattern?
