Phoenix has been completely overrun by criminal illegal aliens and drug gangs like MS-13. Police officers are being killed because the federal government is unable or unwilling to stop these people from coming into the country.

Always keep your guard up. When I am training new people I tell them that Peter was killed on a criminal mischief run. It appears Officer Erfle was killed on a very innocuous run.
People wonder why we are stiff and formal and why three cars shoe up on a traffic stop sometimes. It is because even if you think you are stopping some soccer mom for an expired tag she could have a gun.
