City's homicide toll up this year |
RE: City's homicide toll up this year
I've had the same bad experience - because LMPD does not collect physical evidence at burglary scenes. Apparently the sole purpose of making a burglary report is for insurance. There was absolutely no effort to collect anything from the scene, even when there were visible handprints on surfaces that do take prints. I'm quite aware that CSI is not real life, but without at least an attempt, a conviction for burglary is pretty much impossible. I don't blame the beat officers, they told me they aren't taught to collect any evidence, they have "other people" to do that, and those other people are apparently too busy to work what they perceive as minor cases. Problem is, minor cases can lead to big arrests. In every other place I've lived, officers at least make an attempt to collect some physical evidence. No wonder there are no convictions.
Don't blame the officers, by the way, but the shortsighted administration.
