Judge asked to drop charges - Local case netted 50 pounds of...

August 18th, 2007 @ 2:15AM (17 years ago)

A rather frightening turn of events, considering the drug being carried, especially the quantity and the dollar value.

It almost sounds similar to Los Angeles in 1997. Police are ordered to return the (unlawful) firearms of two men arrested for bank robbery due to a court technicality. A few days later, both men are dead during one of the longest shootouts in American history as they attempt another bank robbery with the guns that were returned to them -- despite the fact that the individuals had prior violent offense arrests and that their guns were illegal to posess in the first place.

I used to think "only California would knowingly return contraband to the criminals and just let them walk free." Granted, the contraband seized in Louisville has not been returned, but the release of the accused and the drop of charges and how this relates so closely to a very poor judgement in '97 is very frightening.

Another FBI screw up! Fumbling Bumbling Idiots! It is never worth telling a lie to get something done like this. How much money was wasted? How much time was wasted? Wire taps are tools that we can use but they are not to be done lightly. There is volumes of case law on this and even though the outcome was vlearly showed the conspiracy it was worthless.

Undoubtably that is the case. One of the big problems is that the defense attorneys have sold their souls in this and many other cases where the do their damndest to get their clients off with no regard as to what it will do to the community.

The good news is that Reggie will remain behind bars for awhile and there is 50 pounds less of coke on the street.

Maybe if the Commonwealth would raise the salaries of the prosecutors above the poverty level they wouldn't need to shame themselves by whoring themselves out to drug dealers

Attorney Keith Kamenish, who represents defendant Derrick Allen Smith, said he believes this is the first case in Kentucky in which evidence gained from wiretaps was suppressed.

The justice system "has to work for the least of people in order to work for all the people," he said.

Frank A. Mascagni III, who represents defendant Marshall Thomas Evans Jr., agreed, saying "we should all rejoice that the rule of law works whether you are black or white or rich or poor."

Don't be fooled by all the noble rhetoric spouted by these two shysters. Both are damn good attorneys, but they only represent dope dealers. ALl their fine clothes, fancy cars and nice homes were bought with dope money. I'm not talking about the dope dealers, I am talking about their attorneys.

I hope oboth of you are happy knowing your just **** bunch of murderous scum back on the street.

Black, white rich or poor had nothing to do with it Frank. Too bad the police weren't able to locate all of Reggie's money becasue apparently he had enough stashed to pay you off for the last 3 years while he was in prison.

You sicken me by speaking of justice when it is just about getting your client off so you can get more money and more drug business.

How do you two face yourselves in the mirror each day??

This is just ludricrus. If the prosecutors just did their jobs right the first time these 11 co-defendents main man in charge would not be seeing daylight for the rest of the lives but instead after 3 years they get release? do they know what type of danger they just people on the streets into? do they know they may want to strike revenge on the snitches so what get them when they mess up again, WOW!!! what a lesson the public of the metro louisville is going to go under when these drug dealers get out. Believe me they are coming with revenge sooner later just watch.....
