I'm not saying this retired officer was or was not a good officer but if you are going to post in such broad general terms please let us know who "THEY" are. You make it sound as if the whole JPD thought this of him, maybe they did or maybe they didn't but to simply put "THEY," apparently referencing the entire JPD than you are no better than the ultra liberal, secular progressive, we hate the police courier journal.

I am an officer, but have to give the victim the benefit of the doubt due to the behavior of this "former" officer...

As an officer myself I am withholding my judgement until all the facts have been presented. This guy sounds like he is a real hot head, but if the guy in the Hummer pulled a gun on him he pretty much got what he deserved. Now if Koenig pulled the gun first then he should be indicted. Only time will tell. I am sure J-Town will give a fair investigation of the shooting since half the department didn't seem to like him anyway. But that is a load of crap comming from his family saying that J-Town would not be fair. Does LMPD, KSP, and most departments not investigate their own. J-Town is fully capable of doing this investigation.

You right I guess the 31 letters of commendation mean nothing. I agree he may have been high strung but if his department didn't view it that way then I am not too concerned.
