Let me put this in terms maybe even you can understand. I'm sure you are one of friends from Liberty High School, where even my 6 year old could make A's and B's. YOU DON'T TAKE A TASER TO A GUN FIGHT!!!!!! YOU ARE A COMPLETE IDIOT!

Yeah Evan would have done anything such as breaking into peoples homes. This kid was a scumbag and would have wound up in Eddyville or killed by some drug dealer a few years from know. I am so sick of people saying he is a good kid he was trying to turn his life around. You don't turn your life around by committing crimes and pointing guns at Police Officers. To all of Evans family and friends posting on this website. His death was a tradgety, but he brought it on himself. To everyone else who thinks that the officer should have tasered him think of it this way I point a gun at you. You pull out your taser and use it on me, now remember the gun is still pointed at you. As soon as the electricity starts flowing through my body my body will cringe up. That reaction alone will cause me to pull the trigger. BANG!!!! we possibly have another police officer killed in the line of duty. That is why we police officers don't bring tasers to gun fights.

To these people who really think that tasers are the end all...be all, and the answer to ending ARMED confrontations against the police-- you're crazy, or maybe just seriously misinformed to say the least. On the force continuum, a taser is on the same level as pepper spray. With that being said, would someone actually be stupid enough to use pepper spray on a person who is pointing a firearm at them? I sure hope not. Tasers (or pepper spray for that matter) only serve the purpose of gaining compliance from uncooperative unarmed people who are being physically resistant to an officer's attempts to subdue them. The rules quickly change as soon as a suspect confronts an officer with a deadly weapon, when that happens- tasers are no longer a viable option. If a suspect decides to endanger an officer's life with a deadly threat (e.g. a gun), the officer clearly must respond to that threat by using deadly force. It's unfortunate that so many people apparently have a hard time understanding that. It's a no brainer. It's as simple as this- if scumbag criminal points a gun at police, police will be forced to shoot scumbag criminal. These so-called friends and relatives of the little thug who was shot, and are posting on this site, should have taught him these simple lessons in life, before it was too late. They obviously let him down.
