First of all, you are stupid! Secondly, I'm sure you would want the police to wait till the next day to pick up some little piece of ******** that broke into your house while your family was there. Thirdly, he did have a weapon. The police don't shoot people just for ******** and giggles. GET A BRAIN!

I'll ask you a simple question. If you confront a person that is holding a gun and you tell that person to drop the weapon repeatedly and they conciously refuse to comply, are you going to allow the person to make the the first move and shoot you? Realize that these things happen across the country everyday and the event and decision making is made in a fraction of the time it took me to type the first two sentences. If you don't relate to my example, imagine confronting a stranger in your home who is holding a gun and they too refuse to put it down. Are you going to wait and see what happens? I can't and won't. I am a police officer and I hope to never shoot someone, however if you ask my young daughter and son and wife what they would prefer after a shift, they would like to see their daddy again. Even as a police officer who has beed in similiar situations but without having to shoot because my suspect did drop their guns, my rule of thumb is to never armchair a situation where I was not present. I know you want to make everything pretty and without a gray area, but it's impossible to do just that. In closing, if there is an armed man in my home and my family is present and he quickly turns after he is confronted, he is probable getting shot in the back. Like most parents (cops are dads and moms too) I will do anything to protect my children and my family. Please stop speculating and wait for the coroner, internal investigation, and homicide unit to do their investigation. Please pay attention to the kids background, all the pertanent evidence, and draw conclusions based on the totality of the findings and not just a single piece like our biased media portrays. Finally, when looking at the involved officer's background, ask the person whose life he saved a couple of years ago what they think of his actions. All the times I encountered subjects with guns, I was fortunate enough to have my suspect drop it every time. Only on one occasion did I put my finger on the trigger ready to pull. Unfortunately, of all the times this officer told people to drop their weapons, two decided to not obey a police officer's command. If you would like to post comments while we all wait for the official investigation to wrap up, try posting how you feel or possible solutions as to what should be done with all these kids that carry guns...Just trying to help.
