Firefighters plan Derby protests after contract talks stall

The Firefighters will gather at Jefferson Park at 5:00 p.m.Thursday April 26 then go over to Metro Council for the meeting at 6:00 p.m..

They have the support of AFSCME (about 1500 Metro Government Employees), the NAGE (represent the MSD Workers), the Greater Louisville Central Labor Council and the State AFL-CIO.

The Firefighters have a whole list of events they will be at including the Balloon Glow, Bed Race and Chow Wagon.

The FOP needs to show support for the other AFL-CIO unions in Metro Government, we all have a stake in this.

Jerry is largely untouchable other than wounding his pride. Metro Council members are the people WE ELECT to keep an eye on Jerry and the boys. Metro Council Races are generally won by less than 500 votes. If we all pull together (FOP, AFSCME, IAFF, NAGE, IBEW) we can make or break Council Members at our choosing. We need to hold the Council Members responsible for our declining community!

Jerry would you please stop screwing over public safety! Go **** off another branch of government for a while.

What do you expect from Jerry and the Metro Council? They are crooks who do not care about anyone but themselves. The sad fact is that 70% of Louisville residents voted for Jerry to be re-elected in the last election. What does that tell you about the people in that town? I'll answer, THEY ARE F**KING IDIOTS!!! Louisville has potential to be a great city but it will never be until Jerry and his cronies are gone. Good luck to the police and firefighters in your contract negotiations. I support all of you. Remember: Do NOT accept anything less than a cost of living raise! You DESERVE it!

This is a sign to come for everyone. The ONLY people that are going to get a raise of benefits is the mayors office and all of the deputy mayors. The mayor / metro goverment was ordered to pay back pay / OT to the firemen by the courts and still has refused to do so. What does that tell you about how he feel regarding the public safety community.

It is only going to get worse with the Police contract coming up. He still hasn't come to contract with the Police LTs who (correct me if I am wrong) are without a contract for 2 yrs now. WE need to show support for our fire fighter brothers. THEY stood by us (LMPD) when we were going through our contract a few years back now it is time to stand by them.

Why does the mayor and the police and fire departments not get along? Is there some history here?
