Shooters Kill Two Charlotte, N.C., Police Officers

April 2nd, 2007 @ 11:48AM (17 years ago)

Officers Sean Clark, 34, and Jeff Shelton, 35, died at Carolinas Medical Center early Sunday. They were the first Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers slain in the line of duty in more than a decade.

Police charged Demetrius Antonio Montgomery, 25, with two counts of first-degree murder. They did not discuss a motive but are still investigating.

He has been found guilty of assaulting a government official or resisting a public officer five times since 1998, N.C. court records show.

Its nice to see that the court system in North Carolina is a joke as well as here. This person should have already been in prison for assaulting the police. Instead he's out on the street!!! Good to see our Judge have complete immunity. How about holding them accountable. Sounds like an easy job! Not accountable for anything!!

My prayers are with the families and members of the Charlotte police. To lose an officer under any circumstances is tragic. To lose two officers on the same day to senseless violence is horrific. I sincerely hope this man is captured and brought to justice.
