Assistant chief will retire under reorganization plan

December 9th, 2006 @ 2:18PM (17 years ago)

I wonder what precipitated her departure? This all sounds a little too quiet, cordial and sudden to be anything but a forced resignation for cause, but that's just speculation. Riggs sounds like Saddam's old spokesman Baghdad Bob with his comment about White keeping LMPD on the cutting edge of law enforcement. When the officers of this department succeed at anything, it's despite the Administration writing policy that tells officers to ignore felony crimes and it's despite the City giving officers a communications system that is dangerously broken. It's despite how the Administration promotes incompetent people into the Command Staff and despite how this department is as political as Roscoe's Hazzard County Sheriff's office. If Chief White wants to take credit for something, then he should take credit for the rising violent crime and greatly increased number of gang members on the streets. Good Luck Maj. Emington. I hope you can do better as Assistant Chief than Winstead or the other Emington at the overpaid Hazzard County Sheriffs office in the east end.

The truth is that she was an excellent leader tasked with an impossible job and an idiot for a boss. She was one of the few people who actually gave a damn about the officers and most officers know that. She will be missed.

Go east, young woman, go east. I hear a couple well paid jobs may be opening up in the near future.

Why doesn't Emington retire and go be the Chief of J-Town? They could use an officer with actual police experience out there.

I was very sad to hear that Maj. Denham was one of the casualies of this "shake up" . He is one of the best CO'S and one of the best men on the police department. When he went out to the 7th our district has come under some bad times to say the least. There are few days that go by that someone does not mention how much they miss Maj. Denham. The police department would be much better off if Major Denham were promoted, not demoted.
