Police Officers fear being sued more than being murdered

The problem is that for years those of us in the Law Enforcement community have failed to "police" ourselves and let a few; let's face it individuals continue to wear the uniform and badge, when they actually should not be. These individuals have put entire agencies in a "bad light" due to their actions, that if done by a civilian, we would have arrested. So now unfortunately, what we sown, we are now reaping. Instead of getting an "us against them" mentality, we should be working to remove these individuals from our ranks and vigilantly work to see that ourselves and our fellow officers work to uphold the honor, prestige and responsibility of wearing the badge and uniform. But I know that I am minority in this line of thought. So while we continue this course, civil attorneys will constantly have the ammunition and guileness to seek civil judgement against us, because we failed to uphold in own department, what we swear to do for the public. That being said, remember treat someone, now matter how you feel, how you want to be treated, our job is not form opinions and judgements, but to deal with facts and uphold the law, for one and all. When people see us act unprofessional while in uniform, or in the course of our duties, how do expect them to have respect for us. We are easy targets, because we have let others put us in the position of being easy targets. I remember something that was always said to me; "There is nothing funny about a person in handcuffs, because there but for the grace of God, go I..."

Yeah right.. The idiot who wrote the last comment, must be some bleeding heart liberal. We are the police, we don't or shouldn't have to answer to abunch of people about how we do our jobs. If the animals in the street stopped acting like they belong in a zoo, well then life would be grand. So what if someone get a little hurt or insulted, they shouldn't be screwing up. And no one should tell us how to police our own, if you ain't one of us, keep your nose out of our business. Lwayers have should have no right sue us, they don't do our job, we do.

Law enforcement officers who commit crimes are still criminals, and they should be caught and punished. However, some lawyers make a living out of scaring politicians into making a payoff to their undeserving clients by claiming racism and police brutality. Some politicians also make a living by race baiting and promoting the idea that racism is behind everything bad that happens to their constituency. They tell their police that if they try to do their jobs properly and have to use force, then they will likely be fired or put in jail. The result is that the criminals feel comfortable enough to do their crimes without any real fear of being sent to prison, because the police have been neutered by their own department. If you look at the cities where that is happening, each and every one of them is in permanent decline. Each year they lose more jobs and their crime keeps going up. Anyone with enough money moves out of them. Louisville is headed down that road as we speak. At least the concealed carry law allows some level of individual protection if the police can't do the job.
