Officer badly injured in head-on collision

First off, I feel that way about work all the time. Second the take home car thing is a bunch of bull. I have been in an accident, in the middle of the freeway and watched your marked "take home cars" with officers in civilian dress, drive right by. It was cold, dark rainy and about 5am on the freeway, I counted 4; 2 blue&white and 2 grey&whites, not speeding, not going code, but as I had to push my vehicle from the middle lane on 264 to Indiana at around Cane Run area curves, to the emergency lane. NOT ONE STOPPED! Too busy trying to get home, get to work, or not wanting to get wet... Who knows. But not one of you stopped to offer assistance!

So do not tell me you deserve take home cars, the only time I ever see one in use, is when one of you is going "squirrley" trying to get somewhere or if you get to chasee someone. Oh yeah I forget, when you have to run errands or pick up on coeds.

I used to be on the job and let me tell you I was so tired of the excuses that I heard of why "we" should be treated different, that is why I left. I feel safer now with the people I work with, then when I was in uniform working with my "fellow officers". If a civilian breaks the law, they are investigated, charged and if convicted, sent to jail or prison. They do not suspended with pay, or get paid while not working while under investigation, does not have the union vigorously mounting a defense. With the "Blue wall" backing him. Unless it is a grievous felony, they are not seen as pariahs by their fellow officers. Who more often than not, make excuses for their behavior. No wonder the civilians we were; "Sworn to protect and Dedicated to serve" did not trust us and were scared of us. A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER WHO BREAKS THE LAW IS NOT "A DIRTY COP" HE IS JUST A CRIMINAL WITH A BADGE!

I got tired of the "Us against them" "we are Police, everyone else is little people", "We uphold the law, so we are above the law" mentality. This is 2006, going on 2007. There is no reason to tolerate, racism, abuse of power, brutality, illegal conduct, unlawful force, unnecessary deadly force and other gross misuse and abuse of the badge and uniform.

Also I am tired fo hearing the complaints against the current Chief of Police in public by officers in uniform. If you do not like your chief, stop whining and quit. Go to work for an agency that will put upwith you. Just because the current Chief of Police does not tolerate the above mentioned activities, will speak up and admit, when his officers screwed up, or have acted in a manner of "conduct unbecoming" and will actually try to reach out, listen to, take advice from and work with the community, "THAT ALL OF YOU SWORE "TO PROTECT AND TO SERVE!" Does not mean that he is not "backing his officers" He is doing what a good Chief of Police does, That is trying to help the city and perpetuate the "Us against them mentality" Those of you with that attitude, should either quit or go be a cop in some type of dictatorship country, where you are legally able to conduct yourself in a manner that treats other people as less than how you want to be treated. Oh yeah wait a second, are we not fighting a war in 2 countries, to stop that already?

Final note, I did not vote for the current democrat mayor, I do not like him. I voted for the rebulican canidate. So put that in your mouth and chew it.
