6 shootings in 48 hours, Is it time to bring back the Street Cri

1. Louisville does have a gang problem but our big headed leberal mayor refuses to admit it because it would be bad P.R. for him. Remember Mr. Sunshine wants everyone to believe that everything is just hunkie dori here in Louisville.

2. He hired a Chief who's first action was to disband not only the Street Crimes unit which actively and aggresively went to areas hard hit by these types of crimes, but let us not forget that he also disbanded the Gang unit which worked every day to gather criminal intelligence on these gangs. It is through the efforts of those two units that Homicide and Robbery relied on to help solve their cases.

3. Stan Mullen is an idiot. Why anyone would quote him as an expert is beyond me. No stan the symbols you referred to can be a part of a group or organization, but HELLLLOOOOO, we are talking about criminals and criminal activity here, not the boy scouts.

4. Mayor for life Jerry Abramson and his hand picked Chief of Police let the problem get worse by not hiring enough officers to fill all the vacancies. This year we have seen a record number of Officers hired, but what a coincidence, it is an election year. Unfortunately they may count them in their "official figure", but in reality the new kids go through 31 weeks in the Police academy and then 27 weeks of riding with a Field Training Officer, so in fact it is over a year before a new Officer rides solo and counts as an Officer on the street.

Let's quit sugar coating the problem and address the problem. Let's not continue with the same failed policies that this mayor is famous for. It is time for a change and time to get a new mayor that will take a tough stance on crime.

how in the world are you people getting away with this? I fully support an employees right to express their opinion but the city allowing it on their own website? That is progressive!

The foresighted and progressive ideas pf this administration (LOL) don't go quite that far. It seems in their rush to write new policies and decide who gets the bigger office they forgot to apply for the above domain name for their website. One Officer did so and even offered the department a free website which they in turn accepted. Then after 8 Officers worked to develope a high end website the Chief decided that he would no longer support it and turned it over to the IT department who let it fall into disrepair. The brain trust failed to realize that they did not own the domain name and when they started getting worse and worse the website miraculously resurfaced and the "TRUTHS" of what the local rag and other media outlets would not talk about started to resurface.

Kudos to the man behind the website. I could say more but I won't at this time. It behooves us all to remind ourselves that as a nation we believe in certain inalienable rights. Free Speach is paramount. It is a brave man or group that stands up to a corrupt system and prints the truth even though it adversly affects them.

This website is a beacon for those that can speak without fear of retribution because they can post here. It has encouraged individuals to question what is currently transpiring. The Department wishes they could do something about it. The department can't criticize too loudly because this is a web portall to encourage people to think and after all don't they now teach Problem Based Learning????

Remember that this sight isn't about bashing the administration. It simply supplies the news and views of the people and the Officers in our community. The articles are always well written and insightful.

Louisville is the 5th safest city in America having over 500,000 people. Most of the violent crimes are committed in the same areas that absolutely love Jerry Abramson. I think most people prefer today's status quo, rather than having the big racial problems of years past resulting from a much more pro-active policing style. If the people in the poor parts of town prefer having higher crime instead of a virtual police state, then so be it. Just keep the criminals out of the areas that actually want policing to occur.
