Simple question - was he, or was he not, legally permitted by the FAA to be behind the controls of that chopper? Before I could get behind the controls of my fixed wing, there were a lot of things I had to do BEFORE I went up, even with an instructor. I assume it is the same for a helicopter? Was the Chief Pilot (as described by the media) a Helicopter Flight Instructor? I assume that since he did hold, apparently, a fixed wing license he did have a medical.
