If you get a letter, suspended, or sentenced to more drivers training for wrecking a Police vehicle, I wonder what you get for wrecking a Police helicopter???

Hey stuff happens, as long as nobody was seriously hurt. Certainly Mayor Jerry, who is sooooooo concerned about public safety will find it in his heart to allocate the money for a new helicopter or at least repair the wrecked one if possible.

Simple question - was he, or was he not, legally permitted by the FAA to be behind the controls of that chopper? Before I could get behind the controls of my fixed wing, there were a lot of things I had to do BEFORE I went up, even with an instructor. I assume it is the same for a helicopter? Was the Chief Pilot (as described by the media) a Helicopter Flight Instructor? I assume that since he did hold, apparently, a fixed wing license he did have a medical.

And thank you, I'm a fixed-wing pilot, but gosh, I didn't know that there were different licenses .... I guess I'd better look in my wallet.
