Officer killed in Virginia police station shooting
I came from this department and lateraled to LMPD last year. Det. Armel is survived by her husband (another FCPD Detective) and their 2 elementary school aged children. The officer who is described here as seriously wounded I knew pretty well. When the shooter entered the parking lot this officer was sitting in his car preparing to go off duty when the guy started shooting up his car. He was shot 5 times in the upper body and is still in critical condition, although I hear he is going to make it. The gunman then exchanged gunfire with Det. Armel, killing her. Two other officers joined in the shoot out and killed the assailant.
I ask my Louisville brothers and sisters to pray for my colleagues in Fairfax. Please pray for the injured officer and his family that he makes a full recovery. He has a wife and small children at home. I always remembered him on my first week out of the academy as being a veteran officer that was always supportive to me as a new rook. Please also pray for the fallen officer and her family.
Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and may your perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithfully departed, throught the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
