Actually, it only hurts LMPD - which does everything it can do to drive away officers who could bring a lot to the table.

Here's the question - all you guys who are planning your "next job" after retirement - what if that small city agency or sheriff's office you have your eye on told you that YOU have to pass the PT standards - do PT three times a week AND go to class for 10 weeks, and do FTO time, before you went out on the street? How many of you could do it, let alone would be willing to do it - or would you be like many officers in Kentucky, insulted by that idea?

In other words, you don't know "who" you are missing by that attitude - and I can name some names of great cops that Louisville lost out on because of that attitude - although a couple ended up at Metro because JCPD took them as true laterals. Others went to other agencies - and ended up very happily NOT at Louisville as a result.
