A Message from my Brother

I have to say that I agree with you. I thought that the writing was sappy and crybabyish. I knew what I was in for when I signed up and I don't care to try to win sympathy from anyone for a career that I CHOSE. Remember that? Choosing this career? Remember how hard that it used to be to get this job? Now am I supposed to ask the public to feel some compassion for me because I see some of the things that I knew I was going to see before I ever filled out the application?

Just my opinion, nothing wrong with others that like this sort of stuff.

If you're going to call people nuts at least leave your name so we can shake your hand SuperCop! I did my time in Iraq and came back to this job the same person I was before I left...a human being. Did you serve? Because if you didn't you need to shut your mouth. You expect everyone on this department to be as "tough" as you and just deal with it? We're humans and each of us react differently in certain situations. You need to get a clue.

I think you need a hug! Seriously, I disagree with you because I think that if you feel that going to work and doing your job ...blah .. blah blah is all there is for you then you are missing something. This isn't just a job. I took this job like most people not knowing what really happens out there and I am betting you didn't either. If you think that just because we aren't in combat everyday that we are fortunate, then you have become too lax and I hope nothing happens to you. As someone that is a veteran and a Police Officer I can tell you that at least in combat you know what to expect but as a Police Officer the stress level is much greater because you never know what to expect.

I am a veteran and I am a cop and I fight every day to maintain my sense of humor (although it is a bit warped) and my compassion for my fellow man. Yes, I feel pain for the family of the druggies we see and the family of the victims we see, alike. It does not stop me from doing the job and I will do everything in my power to go home at the end of my shift. Havi9ng said that, I have no problem commiserating with fellow officers (those that agree and those that do not) in open forum and try not to be too thin skinned about it. Cranking off a joke or barb now and then is part of the stress relief. I love all of you guys.

Now hit the road and be careful out there.

Yeah you know just like you know that you are going to die eventually doesn't mean you walk in front of the bus. I just think people should have respect for police officers especially the compassionate one which I take it you are not but deal with it
