LAPD Chief Is Overruled by Police Panel

Word to the wise: if Kurt Russell makes a movie about your unit and uses quotes like "That's my daddy's gun... and the only reason this city's here is because they built it with bullets!" and "I was raised up to be a gunfighter by a family of gunfighters." and "The S.I.S. doesn't have a jail so if you knock one down, make sure he stays down." then it's time to move. People tend to believe what they see in the movies, especially if it's narrowed down to a specific unit on a specific police department. It's not beyond the realm of possibility that the Commission was biased by the movie.

Looks like it's going to be " drive by and wave" time again in L.A. I see an increase in crime and decrease in arrests in L. A.'s future. Maybe the commission would like a new chief...........................I think we could help them out on that one!!!! ; )

Chief White is overqualified for working on LMPD. He deserves much better. Every FOP member should be calling LA City Hall insisting that they hire Chief White to unite and inspire the LA officers. But don't tell them about the part where he unites them against him and inspires a general fear of doing any policework.

"In announcing the appointment of the new board members in July, Villaraigosa praised their "deep roots in the reform movement." Mack is the retired president of the Los Angeles Urban League who for decades spoke out against LAPD treatment of minority groups.

In addition to Mack, the commission includes two former federal prosecutors, Anthony Pacheco and Andrea Ordin, as well as bank executive and civil rights activist Shelley Freeman"

I don't think the movie had anything to do with the board findings. The board is made up of anti-police activist. If you have probable cause to believe a suspect is armed, and the detective did, and the suspect makes a furitive(mispelled, I know) movement, which he did, then deadly force is reasonable. The supreme court said it, not me.

Can you imagine if Criminal 2X , Mattie the reformed Ho, and Louie Coleman were appointed to the Commision for Police Accountability? The same people are on the board in LA. Rather than send our poor excuse of a chief to LA, lets try and get Kelly Downard to hire Bratton in January of 2007.

You guys are daydreaming. THE LAPD would never hire Chief White, he couldn't pass the friggin Lie Detector Test. I wonder why Abramson didn't subject White to the lie box like he does every other applicant?
