4th Division Flex Officers Injured During Struggle

Sound like they had one hell of a fight. Even with both of them hurt, they didn't give up and WON!!!! Bottom line....They were able to go home at the end of the shift. Good Job and get well soon.

I'm curious? My agency teaches that you don't use a Taser under this type of situation - did they not have OC? Did they not have batons? Trying to get an officer's weapon is certainly enough to justify an all-out fight.

Tasers and pepper spray are nice to use when you're not in a deadly force situation. If someone is attempting to disarm a police officer and take their gun, you are justified in assuming that their intent is to shoot that Officer and possibly others. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

The article says this guy weighed more than both officer's combined. Wow!!! Those officers demonstrated the determination, grit, and courage that everyone on our police force hopes they put forth when encountered by a situation such as this.

PS. I wonder what Christopher Twice would have said if deadly force was used between 2 badly injured white female officers and one very large man high on Twinkies.

And what would have happened had this thug disarmed the officer. We would be attending one or two officer's funerals! Instead of responding to an obvious deadly force assault on themselves with the appropriate level of response, they chose to duke it out. Fortunately, they won and I am certainly glad. That is a huge gamble to take in a struggle like that. And now both have serious injuries. I know one of these gals is white. I wonder what the other officer's race is and also the race of the perp???? I cannot help but think the residue of Mackenzie Mattingly fiasco was somewhere in their decision making. Kind of makes you wonder!!!

Tough Girls! I never heard anything about this on the news or did it even make the news since it was the officers and not the perp who went to the hospital.

I will not second guess their decisions after all I was not there. I can't help but feel that while both of these couragous officers certainly overcame all odds, that the situation probably should never have gotten where it went but Officers have been taught that they will be fired if they use deadly force by the ABRAMSON administration and their cronies.

PTL they are both alive.

Jeff, Officer Doyle is a great officer, but her mouth can get crap started for no reason ( not saying what happened here). She can't always back up what her mouth starts. Go back to applying to every police dept in the State of KY and getting rejected. What a lame posting "BABYGIRL" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The story says the suspect weighed more than the two officers combined weight yet I see they listed him as 5'9" 195 lbs. Unless they both have lost some serious weight, I see a story getting embellished here. Come on tell the truth here.

Everyone needs to stop argueing over whether these are good officers or not and get honest. They were lucky. Lucky someone found them before more serious injuries occurred. Thank God they survived, but they lost the fight. Sometimes all you can do is survive, but putting your survival on the line because you fail to call out your location is either stupid or arrogant. We have all done it, so this is not an indictment of these two officers, but of our mindset we are in every day when we go to work. We need to get back to basics. If a dirtbag injures one of us, he needs to be loaded on a backboard, at a minimum.
