President James Response to Mayor's Recent Editorial

RE: President James Response to Mayor's Recent Editorial

Here is something else for everyone to think about. If I am not too badly mistaken, I remember seeing in the Courier-Journal that something like $98,000 was spent on new trash cans, and much more money was spent on the Riverfront development project, after the city wasn't going to spend money on it. If anyone remembers this, please back me up. If I am wrong, then I'm sorry for an ill-informed response here. But in any event, with the new starting pay for officers (thirty-some thousand after the academy), not factoring in the cost of a vehicle, that $98K would have bought 3 additional officers, including their class-A's, and probably covered other hidden costs. With such ignorance as this whole insurance dilema, I wish the LMPD the best of luck in trying to recruit new officers. I hope you get everything you folks need, as well as deserve. I recently saw that Governor Schwarzenegger of California gave up his salary for filling the office, to help out with California's budget problems. If the almighty dollar is the primary concern for "King" Jerry and his court, then why doesn't he do the same thing. Best of luck and stay safe everyone. Sincerely,Concerned and supportive Citizen
