Student's Presence Won't Keep Police Chief From Forum

Because of the secret service investigation? WHAT ABOUT THE COMMENTS HE MADE ABOUT KILLING POLICE OFFICERS! You gotta be kidding me.

The guy made threats towards police officers, so that means Chief White is safe.

To bad he doesn't think the same for of his officers. My husband is a police officer with LMPD and I can't understand why this chief doesn't support his officers.

Chief White said in response to the Secret Service investigation as being his major reason for not attending: "They've pretty much done what they're going to do, so I will be there," White said. "It was never really my desire to have a young man that is ill-spoken to be a deterrent for me attending a forum that I think could help address some of the important issues of community, especially as it relates to crime and violence."

Actually I agree with this. A Bubblehead like Bailey should never deter someone from doing what is right.

I think he should go but when he gets there he should say something to Bailey. I also think that with the Chief going to the forum he is showing Bailey that his words are not as strong as Bailey thinks they are. If he didn't go Bailey would think he has power. Believe me I know for a fact.

I agree. I think the forum itself is important for the Chief to attend. I think he should ignore the little weasel Bailey and get on with trying to stop what seems to be a huge problem in our hometown, young black men wanting to settle everything with violence, oh maybe the focus should be on how to express yourself without angering other people!

Maybe some of the officers should go and show the Chief their support. There needs to be a break somewhere. I think the officers shouldn't go just because they have a problem with Chief White. I think that they should go to show support for the community. For the ones that look past the issue with Chief White and just want a safe place to live...........

White should explain how his ineffective leadership and misplaced priorities have led to a surge in crime in the west end. He should talk about how treating every Officer involved in a use of force incident like a criminal and disbanding the very police units expected to stop the crime just creates more crime. Then he should resign. If he does that, then he'd have my respect.

Did anyone really believe the Chief would miss a chance to be on t.v.? He'll probably hug Bailey in an effort to win more support from the minority community. If he had any guts he'd show up, state for the record that nothing can be accomplished with someone like Bailey on the panel and then he would walk out. But, based on past performance I think we have determined that he has no guts, backbone, loyalty or ethics.

I agree with White's decision to attend the meeting. We all know he agrees with the statements made by Bailey, he can't stand police officers either, so I say why not. Hell, White probably made the comments to Bailey at one time and Bailey is just taking the credit.

Maybe they will serve some 'Punch and Pie'.

I'm sorry to say that it appears Chief White has no respect for police officers. If he truly wanted to attend a forum for preventing violence he should attend and condem Bailey for his comments suggesting violence. That would take some courage and would win the respect of the officers on the street who are the only ones who can stem this epidemic. Sadly, I don't think Chief White is a man of courage or principle so I won't hold my breath.
