This debate just makes it obvious that there are cops that would work for Satan himself if it meant some extra money. Remember guys, you are the ONLY city employees that get to make extra money using equipment and authority paid for by the taxpayers - and you make considerably more than many city employees as well. (And if you get into trouble, shoot someone, or you get hurt, do you really thing your off-duty employer is going to support you?) Yes, policing is dangerous, but so are other jobs, and at least you get to carry a gun on the job to defend yourself, which other city employees are prohibited from doing.
