did the mayor and rcw just leave there or something? sounds like our dept. the problem is bigger than a police dept it is society that is not wanting the laws enforced it is time for good people to stand up and stop doing nothing. not everyone deserves not to be offended.

How do you not know how many sworn officers an agency has? For that matter - as of Monday (and the retirements) - how many officers does LMPD have? Break it down. You can include the officers who are getting ready to go solo in a couple of weeks.
And I'm wondering, what is the population policed by St. Georges? How does it equate to Louisville Metro?

Most City Mayors are too political and are mostly unqualified to oversee people who carry guns and make arrests for a living. Many seem to want to use the police as their personal security guard service and exempt both themselves and their friends from any legal repurcussions for violating the law. The state legislature should just merge all police and sheriffs departments into a single state department run by a police commission answering to the Governor. KSP doesn't have near the political interference and outright corruption seen in City and County governments.

I hate to break it to these folks, but MOST homicides are committed by people who know each other. It isn't like there are all these "stranger" murders out there.
One of my neighbors mentioned an interesting theory. (Yes, I live very close to one of the Tuesday murder sites.) He had the impression that the demographic of the neighborhood had changed in the last six months by an influx of people pushed out of Clarksdale. Don't know if there is anything behind it, but ... would be interesting to know where these folks (victims AND suspects) lived previously.
