Schools face shortage of resource officers

I am on the same platoon as the unnamed lateral officer. Yes, he knows how to do real police work. Yes, he has excelled in one of our busier divisions. Yes, he has got nothing but praise from his immediate supervisors. Yes, he does a healthy amount of self initiated work.

He wants to be a SRO because he enjoys working with teenagers. He is actually very highly qualified for the position. And you probably don't realize this, but there is more than enough "real police work" in this city's rougher schools. There are gangs, drugs, violence, guns, the whole nine yards....

So please, get over yourself...
