Yeah, I bet that lateral was a real ball of fire at his/her previous place of employment if he/she wanted to go straight to "sro".

Its amazing how these SRO's try to justify their social worker job. If you don't want to be a police officer then quit and be a social worker. Lets see spring break, christmas break, summers off..sounds difficult to me...Talk about back up...trying doing some police work and not being able to get back up because we are too short in the districts. SRO's have poeple in their unit than we do on our shift...So good luck with being a social worker...leave police work to the police!!!

Why don't you get a job as a TEACHER and give yours to someone who wants to be a POLICE OFFICER NOT A BABYSITTER.

Problem is, they aren't "extra" - on top of a full boat anyway. They are officers needed on the street. Same problem LMPD had with the COPS grant money, they were supposed to hire "extra" - but they never got up to authorized strength in the first place. How much is the grant paying? If it truly paid EVERYTHING - I'd be OK with it - and that means not just salary, but benefits, uniforms, VEHICLE, everything. And grants never do.

I already know what my retirment job is going to be. I'm going to go around and hand out crying towels to all of you all. I figure I'll be busy till you all get five years on. Then you'll realize that there is always going to be a unit that you don't like that takes away from the distircts and is a waste. The horses, the bikes, the motorcycles, COP's program, DRO's, district detectives flex platoons, etc.

Once again, weedhopper, you do not know what, or who you are talking to. If you did know anything, you would know that the SRO's are in school this week and would not be on the web page at this time.

But keep bellyaching, you look real profesional. So far you've complained about LMPD, JCPS, new officers, retired officers, SRO's, 26 year officers, is there anything in your life that you like? How did you pass the psychological test anyway?
