Schools face shortage of resource officers

Most of the public in this city doesn't realize that JCPS has their own full fledged group of fully qualified police officers. Personally, I didn't realize JCPS had a police force until well after I became an officer myself, and I've lived in Louisville my whole life. Furthermore, most people don't realize that these officers aren't allowed to carry guns in any way shape or form. Those JCPS officers are expected to search an entire school building for potential burglars without any type of weapons to defend themselves...compared to that the problems on LMPD seem small.
