Ah Quai Gon, an interesting concept except that using your taser and peppermacing the perp has been proven to guarantee less injuries to officers and perps. Can you imagine the media spin on a department of ninjas beating people up all the time?

I'll still vote for you for Chief though because I like the idea of getting time during the shift for physical fitness training and/or some good tactical training like Krav Maga or Tai Quon Do.

To be Chief or Command Staff in Louisville, you must first forget all you know about policing and learn the art of brown nosing self-appointed community activists and leftist politicians. Seriously though, there are Officers on this Department who couldn't handle themselves in a fight due to a variety of reasons and who be at extreme risk of injury if they ever found themselves alone, without a weapon in their hand, and encountering the wrong person. For their own safety, they should either get some training or else find another line of work.

Just making everyone on this department do physical exercise during work hours would be a good start. By no means would Louisville be the first to teach a martial art to it's officers. We have too many out of shape whiners, retired on duty types, and bosses afraid of Louis Coleman for that to ever happen here.

Actually, I think there is an assumption that officers are much more proficient at "hand-to-hand combat" than most I know - how much time to most officers spend practicing those skills, say, every week? Is there an incentive to do so?
