All the billboards and tiplines in the world are not going to stop this cycle of violence. I am sure the violent crimes taskforce is made up of top-notch officers but this is also a knee-jerk reaction. Louisville is not going to see any measurable decline in violent crimes unitl the people who fight it (POLICE) are freed to do their jobs AND...AND they know they are going to be backed by the chief, mayor, and commonwealth atty. We have all seen what happens if these goons do not back you...Mattingly and Cambron to name only two.
As it is now the chief tells them to go do their jobs. They somtimes do and find themselves in the "gray area" or the subject of controversary. Then the chief disciplines them. What kind of backing is that? Chief you can lie to your officers all day long about how much you support them but actions speak louder than words. I guess you missed that lesson in D.C. as it was probably taught at 4:20 in the afternoon (reefer madness)
And what of this moronic mayor who must backup this bumbling chief at every turn. Otherwise it would make Jerry look like more of an idiot than he already is if he had to call out his boy on the news every day.
And finally what of "Dynamite Dave" ? I feel sorry for him... alcoholism is a disease, too.

I'm sorry, but this affects me how? If the public wants us to do our job and protect them from these animals, then they need to come out and support us, get rid of fat head jerry, and pay us a salary that gives us a damn.

Look on the bright side, at least we don't have roadside bombs.

are you saying when people pull their cars in the driveway next door
and play music that rattles ever window in my house for a 1/2 hour
and is filthy to boot, and I go out and the guy tells me to get back in
the house and mind my own business that I don't have an issue. Or
that it is somehow old peoples fault that kids harrass them or drunk's
harrass people on the corner. It's like blaming the rape victim for the
rape.

DUH!!!! If RCW had not disbanded the old city STREET CRIMES UNIT, there would not have been an increase in homicides. I can't wait until this administration is GONE ! Maybe then we can go back to being the POLICE again.

Yes, you are quite correct, but we WERE discussing the terroristic threatening/menacing/assault or worse, that might occur should someone challenge the guy with the loud music - NOT the loud music call itself.
And yes, I'm quite familiar with victim's rights, far better than you are, trust me, and I'm quite aware that LMPD regularly violates the law by failing to provide those rights to any victimsm, no matter the offense. When is the last time YOU gave them to a victim of the listed offenses? Louisville officers regularly assume that "it's not my job." Best I can tell, it isn't even taught to recruits in the Louisville academy, I've yet to meet a Louisville cop that even knows they are supposed to be doing it for anyone other than a DV victim - yet cops in every other agency are quite aware of it. (Not saying they do it, but they are, at the least, aware of it.) Just as LMPD does not follow any number of other statutes, that sooner or later, will nail some unwitting officer to the wall. Doesn't say, by the way "and/or" - the statute is quite clear on who has the responsibility to do what - you can't escape it by saying - that's the prosecutor's responsibility. Think of it this way, how much time elapses between the time you talk to the victim and they time they actually go to court? What are they supposed to be doing in the meantime? And yes, I'm also quite aware that the county attorney's office also fails to talk to victims about these rights - that's their problem, and remember, prosecutors have this wonderful thing called absolute immunity - you don't. And since I'd prefer not to be the one to make criminal defense/ civil plaintiff's counsel aware of these rights I'm describing - I'd rather not list them - let's just say you'd be advised to carefully read ALL of the current policies and procedures, since some of them ARE listed in LMPD P & P. (A few aren't, at least the last time I checked.) One of these days, some unwitting LMPD officer is going to end up in the hot seat by failing to do one of them, and we both know your administration will be more than happy to toss that officer to the wolves by say - he/she violated policy, they ARE supposed to be doing XYZ - it's in the P & P.

Let's see, we got homicide #40 over the weekend, and what is the armed robbery rate up to? RCW is doing a great job. His community policing efforts are working marvelously!
Good job Jerry on finding a great police chief. Louisville is so much better off now.
If we are really lucky, we can have have both of you for life!

The writer who keeps telling people to "shut-up" is a real piece of
work. if this is atypical of your department then you do have a problem.
I do have right to complain, and you have a right to your opinion. but,
you don't have right to viciously attack people who disagree with you.
But it gets back to my original point. Officers like you are the reason
people are not out in droves supporting you. We are not the bad guys,
we depend on you enforce all the laws, no matter how trivial.
