Rehiring LMPD Officers

Huhhh?

July 13th, 2005 @ 7:29PM (19 years ago)

Pretty obvious you don't have a clue about the curriculum or the staff now - and why would you? Maybe LMPD would solve a few more of the "minor" crimes if beat officers did a little investigation. Perhaps you need to take a little field trip, or talk to some of the officers in Jefferson County that have gone to Richmond in recent years? I look at the LMPD recruits doing PT in a big building with gaping holes in the sides, in the middle of winter, and I know that Richmond has literally tens of thousands of dollars worth of new PT equipment and an indoor running track, and a driving track that is a real "city" environment, with turns, etc.? How is this somehow better?

And for all you guys planning retirement, remember, you leave Jeff County, you'll be expected to do your own BT, do crime scene investigation, in other words, do all the jobs of being a cop.

I keep hearing about people that were "fired" from their departments working at Richmond - so I guess that McKenzie Mattingly wouldn't be a good enough instructor? He's been fired, right? Remember, by the way, that most sheriff's deputies in Kentucky have zero legal recourse if they are fired - so that is supposed to count against them? (Nope, they don't have Bill of Rights protection - and only a few counties have merit boards.)

The sergeant program isn't new, by the way. Why doesn't LMPD train their own sergeants? I don't know the answer, do you?
