Rehiring LMPD Officers |
RE: Rehiring LMPD Officers
Actually, one thing that keeps many people from applying at LMPD - yes, I've done some informal surveys - is that LMPD requires way more PT than mandated, and that consists mostly of running, since LMPD doesn't have the physical training facilities that the state has at the state academy. (Have you been there recently - their facility is absolutely first rate - enough equipment for everyone to get a real workout, not wasting time standing around waiting for a couple of pieces of equipment.) In the past couple of years, I know a lot of folks that have come to Kentucky to work as cops, who bypassed LMPD because of the way laterals are handled. Why wait six months to find out if you might, maybe, get hired, when an agency in the same county (or one of the adjacent counties) will put you to work immediately?
