If they wanted to break the law and lie about it at work they should have gone into politics.

I am glad so many of you believes what the Chief and the News are stating since we know that they always tell the truth. What a joke. If you don't know the facts don't make any judging comments.

An open challenge to Chief White :

Since you can fire and have indicted 4 white police officers who you are not friends with, I challenge you to terminate the director of training for violating federal law and embarrassing the LMPD as well as the metro Louisville citizens. I will not comment on the guilt or innocence of these 4 officers or the director of training, as a court will decide this, sort of like they did for Officer Mattingly.

Want to gain some respect, then do the right thing and fire your buddy and have him prosecuted. If not then have the courage to expalin your decision. If not, accept the fact that people will accuse you of being unfair, racist, unethical, and just plain ignorant.

I am an officer with LMPD. All I can say is I am going to wait until all the facts are out on this. I have heard the rumors about the incident. I have also heard what the chief and the news have had to say about it. To say the least they are miles apart. I was not there and don't know first hand about it as most of you who have posted. I will not jump on either side of the fence and accuse either side of being wrong until I have the fact.

Sometimes situations can get out of hand, true. Every situation dictates the course of events that follow and to say that these four went out to intentionaly go out and assault someone is wrong. I cant belive how much this admistration deals out its heavy hands to the beat officers yet nothing is done to the upper levels, DOUBLE STANDARD. We as a society should not take sides because when you do, make comments about an incident and then have 12 members of the community come back and say they did not commit crimes then it makes you and the department look like fools. There is a reason there is a Police Officers Bill of Rights, if we continue to ignore it then we should consider ourselves living in a society that wants democracy but doesnt want to live by it. Innocent until PROVEN guilty is what our legal system is based on. When political figures sidestep state law, legal system fundamentals and makes downright slanderous statements then its time to call democracy a dictatorship. " Everyone follow my lead for I am the leader and what I say is right or wrong is what you should believe."

Reserve your judgements for when you know ALL the truth, not just what a select few want you to know...its what our founders of this country, the men and women who have died for this country and the men and women who protect your here and abroad have sworn to protect. Everyone should be afford the same respect in the eyes of lady justice.

well they were no different than most of the criminals we get. THEY WERE BRAGGING ABOUT WHAT THEY DID!!!! You should have been around in the SMALLEST of all 10 districts (at the time) I hear They were bragging about how they manufactured the incident enroute to the jail and choreographed what they were gonna say on the radio to get away with their actions.... PLENTY MORE WAS SAID

I wasn't there but I am willing to bet that the indictment is based on a good case, considering they took AN ENTIRE YEAR to investigate an assault case with no gun involved. When's the last time it took a year to close an assault case before going to indictment? This wasn't exactly a mafia investigation, so I'm wondering what took them so long to make up their minds. If every case took that long, we'd have a grand total of about 10 people in LaGrange right now.

You can get a peanut butter sandwich indicted in Jefferson County. Big deal.

A year to investigate, that I can believe. We still have 2 officers on administrative leave because a guy committed suicide in the back of a car. This PIU of ours leaves a lot to be desired but if they get your number they will go to extremes to get you. They went to this guys city to get his statements after he didn't want to do anything a year ago. This administration is guided by the media on their witchhunts through the rank and file of this dept which as of lately the FOP has had nothing to say. That should change next election. As far a indictments go, I'm going to seek an indictment on the hawk thats carrying off the squirrels in my yard, this shouldn't be to hard to do with Stingle and his Grand Jury in this county. In other words you can indict a paper bag full of crap but that doesn't mean anything in court. These officers will have their day in courtt and a jury will judge by the evidence not the CJ or White or the Mayors, opinion. I will form no opinion until the verdicts read and no other officer should either.

Dave Stengel is a typical politician who tries to play both sides of the fence, not making the FOP too mad while catering to the whims of people like Louis Coleman. His staff is almost always unwiling or else unable to prosecute any case that demands even a minor degree of challenge in the courtroom. If it's not a sure thing, it's getting plea bargained down to nothing. That is - unless it involves a police officer defendant. In that case, he will only quit prosecuting when the case is thrown out of court by a judge. Why? Because he wants to keep winning the minority vote during elections. During the next election, the FOP needs to bring to light some of the low-life scum who the Commonwealth Attorney has set free to do mayhem to the community. Stengel isn't really much better than Abramson., except he does a better job of playing both sides.

As far as PIU's concerned, they're obviously just a puppet of the Chief's Office. They do exactly what they're told, so don't expect impartiality. It's a symptom of a larger problem, the problem being that this City's politics are a throwback to the days of Boss Tweed and the Tammany Hall machine, right down to the local paper being in the Mayor's pocket and no-bid contracts signed by him going to companies he's had a private business relationship with in the past. If Louisville were any more than a pimple on a gnat's ***** in the big scheme of things, the FBI would be combing through records at City hall. It's too bad the PIU isn't up to the job of investigating any real corruption.

When is the last time anyone in the FBI, the Attorney General's Detectives, LPD/JCPD/LMPD, KSP, or anyone else ever looked into a case of corruption involving a major politician in Louisville or even in Kentucky for that matter? Answer: about 15 years ago for the BOPTROT deal. It's not something that usually enhances your career or gives you much job security unless you're able to transfer across the country on a whim and the FBI is probably a little busy dealing with terrorists right now.
