It must have been white on white since I've not heard mention of the races of the people involved!

It was. It is amaxing, it can be white on white, black on white but coleman and the band of bufoons only come out when it is white on black. They try to make everything a racial issue. This is 2005 not 1965. Get over it! Are there some racist copds out there? Probably, but I would venture to say very few in today's workforce, but you know there are racist truck drivers, garbage men, lawyers, nurses, teachers politicians and a few so called ministers of God that I could mention. There are small minded people in all aspects of society. Just look at the one sided views given by the Courier-Journal. Benny Ivory won't print a negative story about his buddy Jerry Abramson, nor will Daive Hawpe write an editorial about some of the good things President Bush has done.

Last night's shooting is a tragedy. It is a tragedy that our Police Officers are still confronted with violent suspects that want to take the officer's life and that the officer has to resort to deadly force because we still haven't found a way to take someone down without using a pistol. Anyone that wants to can scream that the Police are trigger happy and can't wait to graduate from the academy so that they can shoot someone. That is not the case. Taking another human life is the hardest thing anyone has to do, but by God my wife and kids are not going to be left without their daddy if it takes me shooting some SOB intent on killing me. People tend to forget that it usually boils down to my life or his. No race, no creed, no whether they live in Forrest Hills or Park Hill, if someone is trying to kill me I will protect my own life.

It's sad when a member of the communist journal has to resort to advertising their paper on a issue that plagues this city.

Metro Government puts so much time and effort into making this city APPEAR safe, but when you look at how many times in the last four years we have had officer involved shooting resulting in the death of the criminal scum, it says to the people outside our city that these people have no respect for anything let alone the people who have dedicated thier lives to protecting the very people bent on trying to kill them. This city has gone to the dogs, I cant remember the last time I saw a police officer smile or wave back at me, thier expressions look as though they are unhappy and alone. Metro Govenment, the news media and the CJ need to get off thier soap boxes and realize if it wasn't for these fine outstanding people protectng our city, this once great city ( before merger ) is going to end up with a reputation like Detroit or The Bronx NY.

I for one support each and every one of you and pray that you are safe and return from your shift to your families every day / night!!!!

The officer did exactly what he was trained to do-Stop The Threat and stay alive. If someone has a problem with this then we officers really don't care. There are so many rules and regulations on use of force coming out by this dept that it will take a semi to haul them by the end of the year. State law makes it clear and simple. I have one rule I follow, you threaten me with a weapon it be a gun or a knife you will suffer the consequences, because friend I am going home to see my family at the end of the shift. There is an old saying among officers I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 8. Now if I ruffled somebody's feathers in the upper end of the dept, i really don't care, because I spoke for the rest of the working 800..

Louis Coleman said on the news that he could easily step out of the way of someone weilding a knife or axe. Perhaps he would care to demonstrate?

Yesterday the Cj ran a short bit highlighting SOME (not all) of the shootings dating back to 1998. They showed pictures of the suspect s and a very brief (one liner) synopsis. The intent was clear--Black shooting victims. There was a common thread among these would-be victims and it is not skin color! They were all trying to kill cops (or someone else).

Maybe a fair minded reprorter (just one to cover the police beat) could help this city get back on track.

Somebody please tell Coleman and Company that police will continue to shoot armed aggressors until the end of time. Armed agressors should make note of this fact as well!

Just to set the story in the paper straight. Mr. Neifert did not serve 20yrs. He was sentenced to that but only served 14. Four years after being refused parole and told to 'serve out' he was then released on 'good behaviour'. Also not reported was the fact that the threats to cut and the tieing up of the woman were almost identical to what he did to his previous victim. Before that woman there were 3 others that I know of (probably more) who were tortured, hit, beaten, threatened and stalked. There was no way those officers could have stopped Don except by shooting him. That is what he wanted and he even managed to control people in his death. I am the woman who, 15 yrs ago, was raped and kidnapped and tortured by this very sick man. For the first time in 16 yrs I have slept through the night without waking up screaming in terror. I sat on my couch with the door unlocked all day yesterday and wasnt afraid. I let my kids play in the front yard for the first time.

I am glad and grateful that officer Lainhart was not afraid to use the necessary force and that this nightmare is over for so many women.

Was the Officer reprimanded for "invasion of the 'clerics' privacy rights? How ********** the Communal Urinal didn't print something to that effect? Law enforcement couldn't march as you asked, because they would be 'keelhauled' by the 'ventriloquist & his dummy'!
