Does that mean all we need to do now is pawn him off to another city? Think they will take winstead as well?

I heard there's an opening for chief in Anchorage, Alaska. Lets just tell them he was a wonderful chief and we would hate to lose him but we think he would be a better fit for the Eskimo style of policing. The FOP could buy him and his dad Jerry one way airfares for all the nice things they've done for us, come on guys it the least we can do!!!!!

As a resident of the Portland area, I appreciate everything the men and women of our police department do for our community. The new chief is no more than a way of getting the activist in this area to shut -up. We already know that this idea did not work so the mayor might as well get rid of him and start over again. Of course we all know this will not happen because the chief is a yes man to the mayor. If the mayor was to tell the chief to jump off the Clark Memorial bridge he would probably do it. We need a chief who will stand up for his or her officers instead of doing everything against him. I would expect with the change of chiefs there would be a few changes but it seems all the changes he has made seems to be against his officer and not to help them. If there was a petition to get him out of the chiefs office I will be the first one in line to sign it to get him out. I wonder if the chief remembers he use to be a cop and not a yes man to a politician who is a yes man to activist who have no idea of what they are talking about. again, thanks to all the police officers who bust their butts to keep my daughter, my wife, and myself safe.

Thanks,

H. Sansom

Anyone can start a petition for anything, but only the Mayor can fire the Chief. The Council can remove the Mayor from office with a 2/3rds vote. If there is going to be any change, it will have to come through the City Council and the next election for Mayor. White and his administration are just hired guns doing exactly what they're told by Mayor Abramson.

That is correct, petitions aren't very strong but they are very coercive. The more we do things so the citizens of Louisville can see how bad things really are the better off we are. Right now, most people can only see the smoke and mirrors. We need to change that and let them see the man behind the curtain.

Hey, chief.....

The news reported that you are getting offers from other departments. WE are not happy with you or how you screwed things up. Your attitude that you are always right. Your decentralization that has raised the murder and fatal accidents up.

Why don't you do everyone a favor and take one of those other jobs and mess up someone elses department.

Petitions, protests, pressuring the district council, and asking the politicians in this area if they like their jobs(hint hint). I am all for it. Any other ideas? Serious input only . No stupid jokes.

Heres an idea. The news (Ch32) reported that metro goverment is paying millions of $$$ to a company to rent a building that they owned 6 months ago at Navel Ordinance. Also that jerry was a consultant for the company that is overseeing the property. A commitee was speaking to one of his cronies about this and he and his office did not want to talk to the press about it.

Lets keep the presure on the politicians to get to the bottom of it and see why jerry is giving our tax dollars away for our property. Hopefully they will find dirt on him and then see that the chief is no good also so we will be rid of both of them along with jerry's yes-man staff that is making more money that they are worth.

More dirty deals

November 19th, 2004 @ 3:47PM (19 years ago)

Prior to being elected Metro Mayor, Jerry Abramson worked as a lawyer in preparing the business deal that allowed for the City to "lease" a City-owned building in Technology Park from a company in exchange for their management of the building. After being elected Mayor, the City actually signed the paperwork for the deal. It was done through the board of the Louisville Redevelopment Authority, so Jerry Abramson's staff are claiming there was no conflict of interest.

Aside from the possible conflicts of interest involved here, Jerry Abramson's people want to put garbage trucks in this building, next to high-tech businesses that will no doubt relocate out of the Technology Park if this is done, taking hundreds of high paying jobs with them. Two of them said at a recent hearing they WOULD NOT HAVE LOCATED HERE had they been told of this plan.

Is fixing garbage trucks what Jerry Abramson considers to be high-tech work? Why are we paying millions of dollars to lease a building we already own for putting garbage trucks in it? The Mayor has a lot of questions to answer about his involvement in making this one-sided deal happen from both sides of the table.
