Well I sure hope this officer was not doing any PRO-ACTIVE police work! If he was, then SHAME ON HIM!! Jerry, Dennis 'suspender' Simms and RCW would be upset to know that he got out of his car and approached someone who may/may not have been involved in a criminal activity! What was he thinking? No good can come from an officer doing ANYTHING but answering his/her radio. I hope he has learned a valuable lesson.

The mayor and the chief don't have the money to keep officers and citizens safe with one radio system, but the mayor has the money to be ready to buy LG&E when it comes up for sale.

Citizens of Louisville, wake up and look what is happening. He is only doing this to better himself in one way or another. Maybe for when he is done being mayor?????? something to fall back on??????

Citizens For Fair Treatment of Police needs volunteers for a liaison from every district and every platoon! Also, need someone from every specialized unit

We need people to deliver information to every officer on their platoon and relay messages about an upcoming event with political and community figures prepared to take action on several serious issues involving the police dept. I.E shortage, radio staff shortage, lack of respect & criminals running this city. As well as Christopher 2X being given the keys to the city and Veteran's Day being made Christopher 2X Day here in Louisville. Also, other issues concerning The Mayor and the general treatment of the officers.

Please contact Bridget Abell @ Bridget@supportpolice.com or support4police@aol.com 502-727-2544

This event will soon be announced and will be crucial for all officers to attend. Shall we call it a take back our Respect event... We will take back this city. We promise, you are in for big surprises. Since your mayor, police chief and fop president have not been there to stand up for you. We have found a few strong voices that will!!!

This wasn't equipment failure, this was adminitstration failure. And the media failed to mention that the officer involved in that fight for his weapon sustained injuries because he couldn't get on the air to call for help. Why, because realignment has overloaded the urban channels with unmanageable amounts of radio traffic. Communications staff has been screaming about this for weeks saying officers are in danger and someone was going to get hurt or killed and they wouldn't listen. Well it happened, an officer got hurt. Have they made any changes? NO. What are they waiting for, one of you all to actually get killed? Every day that this administration keeps the urban channels in this configuration they are saying that they don't care if you get killed when you come to work. How does that make you feel? It makes me pissed. Because you aren't just voices on the other end of my radio, you are like family to me. And I do care, I don't want one single officer on my channel to get hurt. God bless you all every single day.

symptom of a larger problem

Mayor Abramson doesn't place a high priority on stopping crime. Despite the rhetoric his people tell the media, he and his Chief consistently fail to provide enough Detectives to pursue the worst criminals. They constantly detail large numbers of Patrol Officers to do security guard work: another government subsidy for private businesses. Fighting violent crime and the drugs that cause it are the last things on their agenda.

Until Abramson leaves office, you'd better be prepared to take care of yourselves.

It really is good to see the mainstream media finally starting to pick up on the things that the FOP has been saying all along. I'm sorry, but I believe that the communications system should have come before the Muhammed Ali Center, the Waterfront Park expansion, 4th Steet Live Concerts, Street Sweeping in rural areas. etc.... We are two years into merger and it took them a year and 1/2 to find a building and it will be 2006 before a new radio system is in place??? What a bunch of incompetant boobs! You notice they didn't say when in 2006 either, will it be January or November?? Either way it is much to long to wait for the safety of our citizens (60 murders MAYOR JEERY AND CHIEF WHITE). What happened to the plan to purchase a temprary system that gave each officer the same radio and frequencies to work off of??? Whyis it that 2 years into merger we actualy have 2 seperate police radios and hence two seperate police departments?? Former City and County Officers have been merged and intermingled throughout, but they still can't talk to each other and the two seperate radio systems can't communicate with wach other.

As RCW puts it, "What a Crock of Crap"

Where are you? There is an FOP meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. Come and show your support for a change instead of creating problems!

God help the City if Jerry buys LG&E. He's had almost 20 years experience as Mayor and still has no idea how to run a city, so how will he do running a corporation? They'll probably have all the workers doing security on 4th Street. It will take weeks to get your power back on because he won't allow overtime and won't hire enough people. Anyone who gets accidentally electrocuted will probably get fired.

I AM A RETIRED LOUISVILLE POLICE OFFICER. THE FOP CAN HELP ITS MEMBERS BY BUYING A PAGE IN THE NEWSPAPER AND LET THE GENERAL PUBLIC KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. ALL COMMENTS MEMBERS MAKE , MAKE AS MEMBERS OF THE FOP, NOT SPEAKING AS POLICE OFFICERS. THE PUBLIC WILL SUPPORT THE POLICE, WHEN THEY KNOW THE TRUTH. ALSO MAYOR FOR LIFE WILL CRUMBLE TO POLITICAL PRESSURE.
