Mr. Lamb have you ever considered a job as police chief? We could really use one about now!

BillThank you. Your point of view mirrors what a lot of the CITIZENS of Jefferson County feel. It never was about race, it never is. Unfortunately the ones that pander to the media about it and so unjustly get air time over it always seem to grab the headlines.Had Angela and Gerry Bougess cocentrated more on raising Michael instead of letting him run the streets then maybe he wouldn't be dead today.Had Louis Coleman spent less time extorting money from local businesses and the school system maybe his son wouldn't be serving a second term in prison for selling drugs.Louisville COPs aren't murderers, sometimes they have to use their weapons as a last resort. If the criminals attack them they will fight back. How come you never see Louis protest when a white criminal is shot??? It is because he is more racist than anyone else. It is a shame that he professes to be a man of God. It reminds me of the way the muslom religion has been twisted by evil men also.

Finally!!! Now that is reporting the news!!! I guess the truth hurts sometimes but grow up an accept it!!! I can't believe someone finally saw Newby for what he was; a gun carrying, drug selling community problem. Maybe if his momma cared so much for him when he was alive she would have kept him in church and troubled free!!!!

WOW! Finally someone in the media came to their senses and got it right! Let's review the latest:

1. Rev. Coleman "now" is not happy about the verdict......I bet he yells when his lottery ticket is not a winner! That's the next extortion case!

2. The bullhorn posse has a new member Mr. J.B.! I heard that the parents of Mr. Newby do not even live in Louisvile. They live in Chicago! If we need a new figure in Louisville I'm all for Mayor Daley, he takes absolutely "no" crap from anyone!

3. I almost forgot! You now have a convicted DRUG DEALER(from CHICAGO) trying to change the legal process in Kentucky!

4. Who is in charge in Louisville? Jester Abramson? Sqauw Robert White (or Smokey as he commonly referred to by his officers) Dave Stengel? Man, Dave said he did not give in to "special interest groups", he forgot about his own special interest----future political interest! Oppps!

5. So the 3 (above Stooges) have seen their little conspiracy....back fire! And that was with the "dynamite" that Dave had in this case. I hope that Dynamite implodes his future political career, implodes Abramson's footing on that old rusty railroad bridge and his future floats down the Ohio with that bridge, and Sqauw White.......he lights up the wrong "piece" and explodes and he ends up back where ever he came from.......It's been a long ride and finally 12 people of Louisville backed Mckenzie and the truth came out. It appears the "circus" will continue until someone has the, lack of a better word, "BALLS" to stand up for what is truly important and quit the games!

Sincerely, Watchin on my way back North (finally) on I-65 to the windy city!!!

God Bless the Officers of Louisville Metro!

Funny how the editorial staff at the Courier-Journal never stated the obvious. Justice ran it's course. The Police are there to protect society from drug dealers, gunmen and robbers. Michael Newby was all three. He was selling dope and tried to kill the police detective. He was a menace to society. He was now someone's little boy with dreams of becoming a veteranarian. His choices in life led to his death. Had he not dropped out of school and taken to the streets, had his parents been involved in his life he wouldn't have made those choices.

Before we all throw Mr. Lamb up on a pedestal let's remember what he said about our beloved chief firing Mattingly.

A Chief's Perogative -- 04/27/04

On January 3rd of this year, Louisville undercover officer Mackenzie Mattingly shot and killed Michael Newby, who was fleeing after being caught in an alleged illegal drug transaction. On March 5th, a grand jury indicted Officer Mattingly on charges of murder and wanton endangerment. And earlier this month, Louisville Metro Police Chief Robert White fired Officer Mattingly, basing his decision on at least two instances of failure to follow established departmental procedure in the incident. Now, many of Mattingly's supporters are loudly protesting Chief White's action, insisting he shouldn't have been terminated when he hasn't yet been convicted of the charges. But these people are missing the point.

Is Officer Mattingly guilty of the crimes he's charged with? I don't know. That'll be up to a jury to decide when the time comes. But a boss doesn't have to wait until an employee is convicted of a felony before giving him his pink slip. If that were the case, we'd all have a lot more job security than any of us deserves.Chief executives of any organization have to have the freedom to terminate employees when they're convinced they've violated company policy or otherwise harmed the organization by their actions. And from here, it seems clear Chief White took great care not to rush to judgment before making his decision. But now he's made it, and given his stated reasons, he had every right to do so.

I could perhaps agree with an argument that this development is a good reason for a change of venue for Mr. Mattingly's trial. And he certainly has the right to appeal Chief White's decision through his union's established procedures. But let's not confuse criminal conduct with cause for termination. Guilty of murder or not, Officer Mattingly's conduct violated established police procedure and caused great harm to the reputation of local law enforcement. And since Chief White is the man who ultimately has to bear the responsibility for the actions of all his officers, he also should have the right to decide who deserves a place on his team -- and who doesnt.

I'm Bill Lamb, and that's my Point of View.

Is that letter genuine? If that were true how would he have ever been hired as Louisville's police chief? Frankly I thought that police officers were just spouting unsubstantiated rumors because they were upset with the man, but this issue needs to be addressed.

its so great to know we work for a dope smoking criminal. How dare he pass judgement on someone else? Why hasnt this article been sent to the media? Its high time the dirty laundry is aired out. Im sick and tired of this administration!! Its time we stand together and make some changes.
