January 3, 2004 - What Happened That Night?

September 26th, 2004 @ 7:43AM (19 years ago)

My families prayers are with Mattingly and his family during this time. He is a man who was doing his job to better the city he loved. On the other hand newby was a man who only wanted to take advantage of others in his city and to infect our city with drugs.

May GOD bless Mattingly and his family. May GOD also look down upon the court that they see his actions were just and true according to the laws of the Commonwealth.

Officer Mattingly was offered as the proverbial sacrificial lamb, plain and simple. I will certainly pray for you and your family as well as the Newby's. Unfortunately there are no winners regardless of the outcome. I will also pray that this jury can look beyond protesters and pressure and base their decision on the truth.

Police Prayer

Police Sacrifice

While you sleep, we're there.

When you're sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner, or

celebrating Christmas, we're there.

When its raining and cold, and you're glad to be in

your home with your family, we're out there.

When it's your children's birthday, we're out there.

When it's our children's birthday, we're still out

there.

You put on a suit and dress to go to work, we strap on

a ballistic vest and a gun.

There's little room for error in your job, in ours

there is none. An error by you means a demotion, an

error by us means a funeral.

When you tell your families "see you tonight" as you

leave for work, you mean it. When we tell our family

that, we pray we will.

At your job you strive to succeed, at our job we

strive to survive. In your job, one bad person is the

talk of the office, in our job, one bad officer makes

the news and suddenly were all bad. In these headlines

it's not what good we've done, but how much better it

could have been done.

When you're scared you call us, when we're scared, we

must carry on.

While you're eating a home cooked meal, we're having

another hamburger.

While you're asleep with your spouse, ours sleep

alone.

So the next time you're out with your family or

friends, and you see a patrol car go by, remember the

incredible sacrifice made by these officers everyday.

Inside that car is a person that sacrifices his/her

life, both professionally and personally Every day.

CHIEF WHITE YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THIS CITY. JERRY ABRAMSON & DAVE STENGEL ARE AS WELL. THESE 3 HAVE FOLDED TO POLITICAL PRESSURE AND ARE NOTHING BUT COWARDS. THIS MAY SOUND BAD BUT I CAN'T HELP BUT TO HOPE SOMETHING AS DEVASTATING AS THIS WILL HAPPEN TO ALL THREE OF THESE MEN OR FAMILIES. I INCLUDE FAMILY BECAUSE EVERYONE IN MCKENZIE'S FAMILY HAVE BEEN DEVASTATED AS WELL. THESE THREE POLITICIANS MUST HAVE NO SOUL TO BE ABLE TO SLEEP AT NIGHT. I HOPE THE BEST FOR MCKENZIE AND I WOULD HOPE THIS IS A WAKE UP CALL TO EVERYONE ON THE DEPARTMENT THAT EVERYONE OF US ARE EXPENDABLE TO THE PIECE OF **** CHIEF, MAYOR AND COMMONWEALT ATTORNEY WE ARE FORCED TO WORK UNDER. THEY WILL GLADLY SERVE YOUR HEAD UP ON PLATTER AS WELL WITHOUT BLINKING AN EYE. EVERYONE NEEDS TO REMEMBER THIS WHEN THEY TELL THEMSELVES THIS COULD NEVER HAPPEN TO THEM.

White doesn't care about us. He will continue to lop off heads right and left without any regard. McKenzie is a statistic to him. Nothing more. There is a rumor going around that another person was fired recently. This one close to the fop. Any truth to that one?

It all depends on what was perceived by Mattingly and Mattingly alone. Chief White and his cronnies, as well as Mayor Abramson and Dave Stengel can Monday morning quarteback all they want - right is right. Funny thing, those sitting in judgement of something they fail to understand. Many mistakes were made prior to the confrontation - but foremost, Mattingly went home to his family, secondly, he acted soley on his perceptions and as anyone would probably do.

We'll keep you in our prayers.

A prior Drug deal was set. Newby and others approached Det. Mattingly. He declined their advances to buy their drugs. One individual even tried to gain entry from the passenger side door. Finally, the Det. agreed to the buy and they ROBBED him. During the trial the Commonwealth has stated Det. Mattingly did not use a "code Word". Does it matter? "They took my money, they robbed me" is enough code word! Would any other officer just sit by? Would any other officer that had just been ROBBED and been a part of a DRUG DEAL, sit there and wait for back up! That's 2 crimes in seconds! Next, Det. clearly id's himself as police and Newby grabs his gun, they struggle and Newby fires the weapon. You tell me, how many more crimes he committed. The Det. makes a life or death decision based on the actions he has been trained on and defends his life. His actions are back up when another Det. witnesses Newby going for his waist, AGAIN. He rolls Newby faced down and wrestles to gain his left hand while his right hand is still working his waist area. IT takes TWO more Det.'s to gain control of the right hand and cuff this person. Det. Mattingly would not be here today if he had not made a split second decision! All this and Newby had a gun in the area where he, not once but twice had reached for during these events. I just wonder what the 3 stooges (The mayor or is it jester, Squaw Robert White, and Dave "Political ambitions" Stengel) would be saying to Det. Mattingly's son, wife and famiily if Newby got to his gun......."Sorry for you loss"? ...."The city of Louisville owes you our greatest gratitude and deepest sympathy!" Instead, Dave Stengel and the posse seemed more interested in hangin' with the Newby family............That should tell you who they are for! So the murder trial continues and Mattingly's world is turned upside down......meanwhile, these 3 idiots oversee the Metro Police Force.....Scary!

p.s. Go to the trial and support Det. Mattingly and take time to check out the PIMP brigade that supports NEWBY-or is it... Michael XCriminal....right, Christopher 2X!

Stand up Louisville and get behind your Police Officers.

Get the drugs and this kind of trash off our streets and protect your children from this kind of harm.

Michael Newby made a choice to sell drugs and he got what he deserved.

why did chief white not support his officer? in that type of terrible situation, one can only go by what was being experienced (gun, cocaine, robbery).

Finally, the truth be told!!! I just wish the &$*@#%! news media would have given this account months ago. It might have prevented a lot of pain and suffering by both Officer Mattingly (yes, I still considering him an officer) and the Metro Police Department. Officer Mattingly and Metro Police, I am in your corner. God speed!
