Having spent some time working abroad, I can tell you the US military is not ready for that kind of duty. The LEO side isn't either. Every time they would show up in Iraq they'd need a whole platoon to protect them. There is a massive difference between a LEO tactical team and the type of capability needed to conduct true counterinsurgency operations.

The retired office pogue feds talking on MSNBC about insurrections and roundups like they're Mussolini make me fear for the future of this country. It was just a riot not an insurrection and they're not the military. The military's not interested in drinking their kool-aid either aside from a few generals who'll be retired in 12 months working for a big company somewhere.
