Every lawyer I've ever spoken to says they advise clients never to talk to them. If they're out to get you, they play like it's just some small talk or something aimed at somebody else. The question will be something intended to make you want to lie because you think it will get you in trouble for being honest or that you will guess the answer to because you don't actually remember. They will have a smile on their face and act like it's not that meaningful and there's no way they would actually bother to find out the answer. They already know the real answer and will use that to either twist your arm to tell them something else, use that as a basis for a fishing expedition warrant to find other evidence or to charge you with lying to them if nothing else.

It's impossible to have honest people on the street doing the work when your superiors are dishonest. That ship sailed for them years ago. The good ones have already left or start looking for other jobs as soon as they figure what the place is about.

They are excellent at using every resource at their disposal and an expensive media campaign to hunt down people who committed call criminal trespass.

If they ever want to arrest some actual bad guys, they can always drive to where the murders are and try arresting a few lifelong career criminals who murder people for once.

Never seen them spend much time where the violent crime is and I never expect to see them. Conrad tried to pull them into that work back in 2015 and they never bit except to hold press conferences about task forces and operations that were just LMPD flex platoon detectives with new unit names.
