"The circumstances were exceptional," Shields testified according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We did, I did, what I had to do to make sure the city was stabilized." This should be chilling to all LMPD officers. Disregarded the two officers' rights to due process and fired them. Why? Because of the political climate in Atlanta last summer? Why not just put them on administrative leave and conduct a proper IA investigation, before deciding to end their careers?
