They can't pass an ordinance that conflicts with state law, which is why they are trying to do. This is a castle doctrine state. Saying you can't defend yourself with a less than lethal weapon is an obvious attempt to reverse a state law they disagree with. Even if some corrupt prosecutor were to try to enforce such a law, good luck getting it through appeals or even a jury. They could be disbarred for trying, but it's not as if rules against illegal or unethical behavior stops the lawyers in this
