People can put on uniforms or suits and act respectable and still be at their core no different from the people they arrest. The common criminal's usual life of poverty, drug addiction and mental illness drive them to choose a different outlet for their antisocial or psychopathic impulses. The ones who were raised in the good homes and who took a more legitimate path, although they sometimes prove incapable of suppressing the same kinds of impulses.

Those kinds of people, whether in Louisville or elsewhere, should realize by now the jig is up and start writing their resignation letters.

"Robbery gone bad." When does a robbery ever start out good to begin with? Maybe bad to worse is more accurate. The metro council is no different than the other politically motivated individuals who work in the mayor's office and LMPD. They understand that their political futures would be destroyed if the public knew the truth about crime in Louisville. Especially when they have the power to make things better, but fail to act. They have a police force that they can use to saturate the most violent parts of Louisville, but refuse to use it in a way to achieve maximum results. They're too afraid it will ruin their political careers, if they hurt some feelings along the way.
