Citing budget cuts, LMPD will no longer provide crossing guards...

Maybe we can use them to work a beat instead. Wait- you say - they are traffic guards. Well so are the rest of us whenever a community event transpires. Runs, walks, bicycle events, art shows, balloon releases, hike bike paddle hike and camp like the homeless events, etc. It's really no different! They could assign them to the community services unit and let them direct traffic to the much needed community peace walks and ice cream handouts too. Heck, if the wrecker drivers can carry guns, let them too.

Give everyone the class g uniform and have at it. They can sit in cars like the rest. Heck I may even put in for that unit provided I can actually get a v-day.

This is just sarcasm for those who get it.

Sad they let us get to this point.

It's about time

I'm not saying that it's unfortunate that crossing guards are being cancelled or reassigned. But as a citizen, here are my 2-cents:

1) Private schools are just that: private. It is not the burden of the taxpayer to provide extra services at those locations. That defeats the point of making them "private."

2) I see Louisville Metro was providing services in St. Matthews. Doesn't St. Matthews have it's own city government and police department? I get that the school is part of the Jefferson County / Louisville Metro school system, but the physical property is in St. Matthews. Why doesn't St. Matthews provide crossing guard service?

If Louisville Metro has to focus on it's own public needs, then this should have been done a long time ago.

The street isn't the school. We could eliminate protection for all the other special events in town using similar logic. The city makes money indirectly from Derby, so LMPD does Churchill Downs private security duty inside their facilities. If it weren't for the private schools actually educating future business leaders, the economy of this city would be about 20% of what it is today. JCPS is a dangerous babysitting service in most schools. Their graduates can barely do math.

How come nobody's arrested. the person who committed terroristic threatening against Senator McConnell?

Its simply too obvious how some people allow their pro Democrat biases to interfere with performing their duties.

Protest

August 7th, 2019 @ 9:39PM (5 years ago)

Well hell, lets protest in front of the Mayor house 24/7 and the Chief also. I'm serious. Peaceful of course, except for our constant chants. That'll give him a chance to prove his support of The First Amendment.
